Time for Another Midwest trip

May 23rd, 2011

Due to severe back troubles that have now been fixed I was unable to make my target of 2 trips per year to the Midwest and/or west in 2010. But I’m about to depart for Chicago, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa. This will be my first photographic trip to Wisconsin. My intention is to spend most of my time in the southern part of the state, looking for farms and agriculturally themed subjects. If you have suggestions – general areas or specific locations – please email them to me as soon as possible; I would welcome information from people familiar with Wisconsin.

In Iowa, I’ll be delivering recently completed prints to the Olson-Larsen Galleries in West Des Moines for an exhibit that opens on Friday, July 22. http://www.olsonlarsen.com

Images on Display at Museum

October 4th, 2010

Two of my photographs, recently acquired by the New Britain Museum of American Art, are currently on display at the museum. They are on the “New Acquisition” wall on the first floor, as you walk from the lobby into the main gallery spaces. You can’t miss them! The two black and white photographs will be on display until somewhere around the middle of November, 2010.

Museum Acquires my Photographs

More than I’ve noticed at most other museums, the exhibits are constantly changing, the work on the walls from the New Britain Museum of American Art’s permanent collection is constantly being refreshed. Expanded Possibilities with HDR Software

July 17th, 2010

I’ve been photographing the Yale campus for over 30 years, but I can always count on finding new material and inspiration there. I took this photograph the other evening while wandering campus intent on discovering something new. In this case, I was assisted by photographic possibilities that have opened up because of new technology – specifically, software for digital photography known as HDR (high dynamic range). Amish farmhouse, central Pennsylvania

This photograph captures a typical scene in this quiet valley in central Pennsylvania. I produced it on a recent outing with Bill Coleman.

In recent years I have enjoyed photographing in central Pennsylvania with my good friend Bill Coleman. I return as often as I can to photograph Amish farmland with Bill in this enchanting valley. Read the rest of this entry »
